The MSC reports progress in sustainable fishing but urges that efforts be re-doubled to meet the urgent challenges facing our oceans

The Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) – an environmental not-for-profit which sets a global standard for sustainable fishing – says there has been encouraging progress in the shift towards sustainably produced seafood, but that momentum has to increase to meet the scale of the challenges facing the oceans.

Make Stewardship Count: MSC by now has 17% of wild marine catch involved in their program, celebrating a successful business period for the MSC overall – but is this really showing improvements for the oceans, for the increasing number of threatened and endangered species and the increasing destruction of marine ecosystems? This is the question obviously not raised in MSC’s success story?
